Abstract. The relevance of the problem under study is determined by the wide spread of social imitative realities that cause the emergence of false content in modern socio-cultural reality. The dominance of falseological components both in interpersonal interactions and in the extra-normative activity of social elites is becoming a common phenomenon, and the untrue, in comparison with the true, in almost all cases turns out to be more comfortable and advantageous for many people. The aim of the research is social and philosophical comprehension of the falsity of modern people life as related to social imitation. Research methods used are analytical, synthetic, dialectical and phenomenological; their combined application made possible for a holistic consideration of the false in the life of people along with the accompanying social and imitative realities. The main results of the study are to establish the relationship between the expansion of social imitation practices and the falsity of the modern people life. It was found out that the degree of imitation of the life realities of a person and society as a whole is constantly increasing. The essence of the sociocultural crisis taking place nowadays is largely determined by the dominance of distorted images of reality in all spheres of public life, generated by the expansion of social imitation practices. Growing realization of the potentials of such practices contributes to the fact that falsity ceases to be a transitory property of people’s life, becoming its attribute. The article is intended, according to the author’s intention, to attract the attention of philosophers, sociologists, culturologists and representatives of other spheres of social and humanitarian knowledge, exploring the features of the modern social world. It is also worth emphasizing that the results of the socio-philosophical research of the given problem can benefit society by helping it to understand imitation as an imaginary form of social symbolization, which is an important factor in changes in sociocultural reality.
