Sustainable economic development of enterprises requires special management decision-making tools. It is important to note that the industry specificity imposes special restrictions on the possibilities for successful implementation of an enterprise development strategy, for example, in gas distribution facilities.

The purpose of the article is to highlight the basic principles of building a methodology for evaluating a strategy for the sustainable economic development of an industrial enterprise in the gas industry, taking into account its industry specifics.

The study applied general scientific methods of cognition, such as analysis, synthesis, induction and generalization.

This article includes the basic principles for constructing a methodology for evaluating the strategy of sustainable economic development of an industrial enterprise in the gas industry, but not limited to principles, the author offers debatable questions for expanding the effective strategic management tools for specialized infrastructure enterprises.
