Abstract. The relevance of the study is substantiated firstly, by the need to adapt the organization to rapidly changing operating conditions, secondly, by the desire to form a positive image among stakeholders, thirdly, by the emerging opportunities to activate social and environmental aspects of activities as a result of achieving high rates of economic development, and finally, by the need of integration into the global economy.
The aim of the study is to develop theoretical concepts and methodological provisions related to the implementation of sustainable development of organizations, based on the development of recommendations for restructuring the mechanism for managing their sustainable development. The study used methods of system, structural and functional analysis, and also a method of a grouping and methodical recommendations for the formation of program goals for sustainable development and the construction of a business model for sustainability.
The author has formulated a definition of the mechanism for managing the sustainable development of an organization, according to which it is a regulated interaction of management elements of various natures, aimed at achieving and maintaining dynamically sustainable functioning of the organization in the context of a changing internal and external environment.
It is recommended that the structure of the sustainable development management mechanism of an organization include a multi-level sustainability business model, the construction and use of which ensures not only the interaction of all the main management elements, but also the modeling of economically sound management decisions.
The conducted research resulted in the following main conclusions: many organizations do not fully realize their sustainable development potential due to the absence or poor quality of a sustainable development management mechanism. The development of a sustainable development management mechanism for an organization must be carried out basing on the improvement of its structure. The main structural changes in the sustainable development management mechanism for an organization include the expansion of management functions, the addition of management tools and the introduction of a multilevel sustainability business model that allows modeling of balanced management of economic, social, and environmental areas of activity.
The scientific novelty of the study lies in the development of a theoretical and methodological approach that provides for the implementation of structural changes in the organization management mechanism, which are aimed not only at increasing the pace of economic development, but also contribute to the implementation of its potential in social and environmental activities. The practical significance of the obtained research results is determined by the possibility of their use for building a methodology for developing a mechanism for managing the organization sustainable development. An important area of further research is solving the problem of formalizing a multi-level business model of sustainability, which will allow the most realistic modeling of the processes implemented in the mechanism for managing the organization sustainable development to develop effective management decisions.
Key words: governance mechanism, sustainable development, sustainability business model, principles of sustainable development management.
